Reggie Shipman is a Regional Sales Manager for On-Site. On July 19, Reggie competed in the 2014 Fitness Space City Championships. Here are her words about the experience and preparation.
Why did you want to something like this?
I've always worked out own my own in the past, but I've always
loved 'the stage' so the idea of participating in a fitness competition
piqued my interest. My company is very supportive in promoting healthy
lifestyles and personal development and I happened
to mention "the idea" of POSSIBLY competing in a competition. The
President of our company, Monte Jones, put me up to the challenge and
pretty much forced me to commit by continuously inquiring about the
process. I'm a strong believer in the phrase "Don't
just TALK about it, BE about it." And (DWYSYWD - Do What You Said You
Would Do) So I couldn't let him down.
What was your training like?
I signed on with my coach, nutritionist and
trainer, Christine Anderson, and finally started to let everyone know
about this personal goal I had set for myself. I had no idea this
commitment would take so much will power, commitment and
hard work. With our industry's love for "Happy Hour" and such a
demanding travel schedule, I didn't know if I would be able to pull it
off.
How were you able to push yourself through all of the training and the event?
It was a tremendous battle that I could NOT have won without the
Motivation, Inspiration, Support, and Sacrifice (M.I.S.S)
of my fellow HAA members and my team at On-Site. They helped to push me
and encourage me throughout the ENTIRE process, and for that I am truly
grateful!
